century triple c (ccc) LD ( beachcasters)

well as i have had these rods for over 8 months now and have regulary used and abused them i think i can do a fair review

first the official century jargon
------------------------------------------------------
The Ccc LD is the partner to Ccc and very similar in style and action. The principal difference is diameter hence LD - Low Diameter. The C3 LD is based on a 3/4" mandrel and the outside diameter is 7/8" (22mm). The action of the rod is very similar to Ccc and designed to produce a curve that looks like a letter C when under full compression. The tip recovery is very quick and accelerates the lead and bait to greater distance when pure fishing time over rides the need to spend months perfecting advanced casting skills. The prototypes and design feedback has all been through Danny Moeskop's hands and as you would expect from a man of his experience - his seal of approval means that you are assured of a very competent fishing tool. The rod diameter can have a significant impact on which model to use according to your personal hand size and preference. The overall weight of Ccc LD is 750 grams (26 ¾ ozs) including the special Century reel seat and stainless coaster. It feels very light in the hand and balances well. The CccLD has the familiar Century cabon metallic look on the butt section with a very slight Artic blue tint built into the weave. The build, joint and reel seat is similiar to Ccc and comes with the Century rod case. Technical specifications CccLD Factory Finish: Fuji BNHG guides Casting Ratio: 4-7oz (125-200gm) Length: 13' (3.96m) Butt Diameter: 7/8 ” (2.22cm)Butt: 74” (1.88m)Tip: 82 ” (2.08m)

------------------------------------------------
now for my penneth worth

These rods have been a major enhancement to me, they cast so smoothly and are very forgiving, the tip when you cast dosent do that spring back /recoil type shock they just smoothly fall back into place, i'm sure they added 20 or so yards straight off for me,
i love the thinner blanks as i have small hands / fingers so feels less like a scaffold pole, the bite detection is great and you know you have a fish on as they bend well on retrieve as well , this softness means i dont use them over really rough ground , but they have coped with some heavyish ground,

i have found they cast best at 5 ounce especially if useing a big bait like a squid( 6 oz and whole squid and the rod really feels worse) , the rings are great and have survived a couple of heavy falls perfectly, I have had to emery file the spigot joint on both as was a very very tight fit from new but the join section is solid, with rubberised bits either side to help pull apart

I do have 2 petty niggling problems ( neither very worrying though)

1 : the rod bag, although good and solid( cordora type material) they are obviously universal so there is an annoying 6/8 inch fold over at the end( petty bugger aint i ) which just flaps about

2: the other is definately a problem and is the reel seat, now although good and comfortable( and alot of people praise) both have now come apart at the screw/footclamp fitting ( as they have on 2 of my club mates) the reelseat is not included in lifetime warrenty though and is down to me to replace

so although screw still holds reel secure it can be a real pain in but to undo at the end of a session, especially with cold or wet hands so it wont be too long into new year that a set of coasters adorn each rod

at £200 each they are not cheap , but there are definately more expensive out there, and if i needed to replace i would definately consider again

hope this helps anyone

dave
