Daiwa TNXS 130M

Morning all,

Well, I popped into Maidstone tackle yesterday with the intention of getting a few bits and pieces for making gear up, and b*gger me if I didn't end up leaving with a new rod - oops!

Anyway, having previously only ever used Zziplex rods (Ng-1, Pendleteque, Quattra and recently F-Zero), I had never considered a Daiwa before, however, after spening an hour or so chatting to a very helpful chap in the shop and having a good waggle of all the rods he had on offer (!) I took the plunge and plumped for the above rod. I have to say, the last Zziplex I bought, the F-Zero is my least favourite to date, so I was thinking about a change anyway.

Well, despite a lovely on-shore "breeze" of about 20 mph, I just *had* to go and give it a try, I could hear it calling out to me! So I duly trolled off down to Sheerness beach, which looked pretty univiting tbh.

What can I say? It's a magic stick ... teamed with my Sports Mag, into the wind with a 5oz plain, the rod was magnificent. It zipped away cleanly, and is beautifully balanced for retrieval too .... Just the kind of action that I was hoping for with the F-Zero, and didn't get. Finish is none-too-shabby also, and I like the clever bit that's been left in "rough" carbon either side of the spigot, so you can grip it to break the rod in all conditions.

It was too windy to *attempt* a pendulum, so it was all off-the-ground stuff, but I was soon whacking it with maximum gusto and total confidence (although I did have 4 dialed on the magnets for safety). I'd estimate I was reaching about 120/130, which given the conditions I thought pretty damn good.

So, in short, I'm chuffed to bits with this rod - can't wait for a nice day. It's undoubtedly the best one I've picked up to date - fully justifying the slightly alarming price-tag.

Anyone else out there a Daiwa convert?

Anyone fancy buying a lightly used blue and silver F-Zero?

CheerZ,
JB.

Re: Daiwa TNXS 130M

well i do need a new beach rod so maybe i will take a look at the one also.
at the moment i have the greys orion which will do me fine for all of my fishing and for some of the rougher stuff but i need to get myself another rod that will hold the 6oz
my other one is a silstar custom built thing its a very good rod but a lot lighter then the orion and i think switching between the two all night long isnt helping my casting either.
if i have to rods similar then i think i will get used to casting with them and improve

This one is marked up as 4-8 oz, it'll handle 6 oz no worries, and it seems to have plenty of power if you need to bully it in over the rough-stuff!

I recommend you give one a look .. pick it up, you'll love the balance.

CheerZ,
JB.

Hi Mate,

Yes, I'll be bringing it with me - you're welcome to have a crack with it - can even supply a sunset orange mag elite with it too, see if it floats your boat!!

Don't know much about the 3500ptx, always found the 2500 a little on the soft side, I do like a powerful rod, even if my casting doesn't necessarily justify it, just seems to enhance the old confidence a bit!!

Paul, that's some classic gear mate - I seem to remember the 484b was an all time classic, is it a sort of bronze colour? I started off with a Sundridge Scorpio and Cod 6 (both in glass), but I think once you've used carbon, you couldn't go back.

As I say, I've got a very nice Zziplex F-Zero that I'm gonna have to get rid of, it's a shame as I had it built to my spec, but I just don't get on with it.

Cheers,
JB.

'erm - don't tell the missus - but a shade under 300 notes

I have seen it advertised in Sea Angler for 279, but I'm not sure about delivery. Apparently the list price is 400 - yeah, right.
