Smile Daiwa 7HT Mag

So who's going to be the first to buy a new Daiwa 7HT Mag? I,ve seen some good reports. It will be interesting to see a head to head test against the new ABU 6500 Mag thats due in December...

Think you will find the new Abu Mag is a 7000 size version, not another 6500.

Re: Daiwa 7HT Mag

Or you could buy a standard 7HT (alot cheaper) and get a mag conversion done on it ;)

Re: Daiwa 7HT Mag

I dont normally use magged reels, tried the Abu 65,s & Penn 525 versions got rid of them. Mostly use 7HT std & Turbo or Abu 65ct Elite(blue),but after having a play with my mates 7HT Mag, i must say i was impressed, tbh if you frap one of these, then look at your casting technique. someone both my mate & i know hit 230 yds 1st time out with 1, i might be tempted in nr future, just waiting for some feedback on reliability & consistency b4 parting with the dosh!!.

This reel has a different mag set up known as Magnofuge - who do you know will fit that into your standard 7HT....?

Re: Daiwa 7HT Mag

I'm only going by what i've been told by a friend. A load of guys and him tested the mag converted reel against a new magno one on Aberdeen beach late last year, and said the original converted one out-performed the new one every time.

Granted it's always up to everyone to make their opinions for and against it but even you have to admit that there has not been a bad report from SA or TSF about new kit for years. To much advert monies involved.

I do still read both mags and subscribe to SA but it always seems a one sided test. As much as i hate to say it, they should test things like Clarkson. At least he's honest.
