Question Mitchell Riptide 4/0 Multiplier Reel

Anyone got or know anything about the MITCHELL RIPTIDE 4/0 MULTIPLIER BOAT REEL. I've seen a few advertised at half price (£29.99) & i'm thinking about getting one for light to medium boat fishing with a 20lb class rod?

Re: Mitchell Riptide 4/0 Multiplier Reel

i've got a job to remember but i think this model is a rehash of the old 624 series which as far as i know were bullet proof .
if so, size wize, i'd rate it at medium - heavy
not too sure though m8 , best wait for the veiws of a few boat anglers who are familiar with it .

Re: Mitchell Riptide 4/0 Multiplier Reel

i had one few years ago when thay first came out and it packed up and died very quickly after a couple of wrecking trips, after that the shop replaced it and again it packed up , so i now use the one that replaced that o0ne for my mackerel rod on the boat.
so i would say dont bother with it, in stead go on e-bay and get a 624 michell for about 10-15 quid cos as geejay has said thay are bullet proof, iv had one for 15-18 years now and its still good as gold, although the retreavle rate is a bit slow compeared with modern reels,
