I see that the latest edition of Angling times ran a feature on the top 100 Anglers as voted for by their readers. John Wilson came in at No.1 with Richard Walker in the No.2 spot. I,m not sure that i'd agree. Personally I'd put Dick Walker in the top spot. Although John Wilson is a great angler, I think he's more of a personality. Dick Walker was a true pioneer & most of our fishing techniques & Tackle today are based on his ideas & tactics, especially in the Speicemin & Fly fishing fields. I suspect that a lot of younger readers are not truely aware of what he achieved. What do other Forum members think & who would they have chosen for top spot? __________________ One man's fish is another man's poissons http://www.deepsea.co.uk http://www.wildtrout.org

Re: 100 Greatest anglers Matt Hayes and John Wilson - Multi-disciplined anglers who bring fishing to the masses. Their influence cannot be underestimated. I think Mick Brown is catching up quickly too. Alan Yates - One of the greatest sea anglers ever. Kevin Nash - Controversial, but immensely talented carp angler. Jan Porter - Cool, calm and collected. Also an awesome match/carp angler. Steve Allmark - World Champ? Say no more. Lives for sea fishing. If it was a top 100, these guys would be in my top 10. Rob

I think the late John Sidley should be included too. Greatest Eel angler ever. He devoted his whole life to a vastly underated species. __________________ One man's fish is another man's poissons http://www.deepsea.co.uk http://www.wildtrout.org
