Not long left for sea fish apparently

yes everyone to blame even anglers as we buy fish to use as bait and most anglers eat fish too.
you have to take your share of the responsibility if there was not a demand for natural products be it fish ,animal or mineral .
so it not the commercial fishermans fault they only go and catch what they do cause thats what we demand at the end of the day.

we all drive cars aswell USA it not to blame it a bigger country don,t make them escape goats PLEASE ! i,m not a great fan of america but i would not say they are more at fault than any one else .

yes it sad to see decline in stocks but it our own fault at the end of the day

any one who is upset by this give up fishing get rid of your car and all other luxury,s you have and go live on a mountain and become a bloody tree hugger

Surely as the stocks decline it will become uneconomic to fish with trawlers and so certain areas will be left as the costs will be too high for the returns, then the fish will gradually return to that area untill it becomes profitable to fish it again, I think this is one of those cycles, I am old enough to remember the cod wars we had with Iceland when the stocks were first forecast to crash.

But isn't everything running out? we are told to turn our TV's off standby to save the planet, yet every town is currently putting up Christmas lights that will negate any saving turning of a few tellies will make.

I sound a bit negative but I think a few of us being responsible is not enough when those in power do not take the lead.

Absolutely Mike, Its difficult not to be negative when discussing an issue like this. A lot of the problems to the environment have been caused by heavy industry and lack of action on our part by governments in the past. I'm from a mining town so have seen the damage done to the North East coastline from years of dumping coal at sea. I think we can all do our bit, but ultimately it has to be decided and acted on by the Government.

The fact is by 2050 we could be looking at a global disaster. Some of us will still be around then to witness it if it happens. But our kids will have to live on through it. Extreme weather conditions have increased in the last 10 years too. We're only on a small island relatively speaking, a hurricane of the intensity of the one that hit New Orleans last year, would wipe out the whole of the South East for example. The scariest scenario for me is the one of the wars that could happen as everyone fights for the last scrap of resources left.

As I said before though, its all down to greed. Its part of the natural cycle of the food chain to fish for food, but if demand outstrips supply then what do we do? Pay more for it, thats what. Those heads of businesses that produce fish based products don't care about the environment, they just want you to pay £2.50 for a pack of fish fingers so they can enjoy a good life with an inflated salary to boot. When it all runs out, they'll more to another company producing something that will make them more money.

But don't worry lads, I'm not turning into an eco-warrior, its just something I think about since I've become a father. I worry about what sort of future my son (and his kids) will have that's all. Now, fish fingers for tea?

Just bought a corn fed chicken today cost me £3-33 the wife is going organic at the time I thought ballistic,it turns out saw a programme last night River-Cottage converting joe-public from buying battery-farmed birds to naturally reared cluckers.
My question is where does it all stop.
