Cowards.....Quote- Pc Duncan Thomas, the force's wildlife officer, said that saboteurs were increasingly attacking anglers. "Both anglers and grouse shooting parties should be aware of the threat to them and they should have contingencies in place to protect themselves." My contingency plan is a steel bankstick with a razor sharp curved weed cutting blade screwed in the end. Would be a shame if they got in the way when I was cutting back the weed in my swim..... | Re: more anti's it,s alright saying we should have contingencies in place .so what are they saying if we get attacked we can attack them back ??.(but the angler would be in the wrong and punished accordingly ). i know they are just thugs at the end of the day, a few which are using the animal rights protests so they can just go out a attck people . if they were football holigans they would be dealt with severely these in my opinion are no better and should be treated as any thug . i heard one of the vans which they came in were blocked in by the lake owner and the driver of the van stayed with the van and the police let him go ??? but as you,ve all saids they are just a bunch of cowards and i would not even p**s on then if they were on fire tightlines kevin ![]() |

| Re: more anti's this might interest some of you i saw this a thought it was relavent . The secretary of the Specialist Anglers Alliance has sent the following letter to the Acting Chief Constable of Lancashire as follows; Steve Finnigan Acting Chief Constable Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters, PO Box 77, Hutton, Preston, Lancashire, PR4 5SB. 21st August 2006 Dear Mr Finnigan It has been widely reported in the local and national press that a gang of thugs recently attacked fly fishers at Bank House Fly Fishery at Caton, near Lancaster. According to reports a gang of about 30 men, carrying baseball bats and blocks of wood, emerged from woodland before descending on the lake shouting "Sabs" then proceeded to smash the anglers' rods, damage nearby cars and start fights. Two fishermen were assaulted and a woman angler was punched in the face. It has also been reported that at the height of the confrontation police called in the force helicopter, an armed response vehicle and nine other vehicles. But there were no arrests and the saboteurs escaped. Pc Duncan Thomas, the force's wildlife officer, is quoted as saying that saboteurs are increasingly attacking anglers and that "Both anglers and grouse shooting parties should be aware of the threat to them and they should have contingencies in place to protect themselves." It has been an established fact for many generations that is what we pay our taxes for. We pay taxes, the taxes pay for the police force and the police enforce the law. Although for some reason this does not seem to be the system in Lancashire. We would suggest that if a police helicopter, an ARV and nine other police vehicles could not apprehend these criminals what "contingencies" do you think anglers should put in place? And why should they and shooters need to put any contingencies in place? It is the police forces responsibility to enforce the law of the land and in this instance your force appears to have failed. We are sure that PC Thomas does sterling work as the force wildlife officer. This however was not a wildlife crime. This was an act of criminal violence to the person and property. Why were the perpetrators allowed to escape? What has your force done since the event to trace those responsible? Can you assure us that in future anglers and shooters will receive the protection from your force for which they pay? Yours sincerely Michael Heylin secretary@saauk.org We must assume that as they have an "Acting Chief Constable" the rest of the Lancashire force are only "Acting" as well. They do not seem to be doing the job we expect of police officers, but given the present climate why should we expect anything more? | Re: more anti's Tree huggers and Posey sniffers here aren't usually dumb enough to disturb hunters. If they're "armed" w/bats and such...Here thats licence to defend yourself. The antis here usually confine themselves to throwing red paint on old women wearing fur coats, and breaking into breeding farms and labs and releasing all the animals. This usually results in Many of the animals dieing because they're captive bred and cant fend for themselves. One group released a college lab cow that had been raised eating supliments and recycled stuff, mostly newspaper. It wandered around the campus for hours, not eating grass or shrubs. It had never eaten any, didn't know it was 'food'. Another that made the news, They released hundreds of indoor farm raised chinchilla. Most of them were killed by raptors in just a couple days. Left a bloddy mess' EVeryWherE! If it wern't so pathetic it would be funny. __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working! | Re: more anti's Had an interesting discussion over this last night - I think the Anti's (rent-a-thug more like - have no interest in the cause) will find that 'sea anglers are a lot tougher breed than the landed gentry and with no disrepect - old ladies & children on lakes and the 'antis will be in for a little shock if they start thier activities on the sea angler who WILL fight back and will give as good as they get ! BUT guys - a word of caution, of course we all have the right to defend ourselves/property but these so called 'Antis are very clever at manipulating events so it looks like shooter/fishermen are in the wrong when the Police arrive ... especially where weapons are used ... |
