Exclamation New RNLI Sea safety guide launched

New Sea safety guide launched
31/05/2006
Sea Safety CD

The guide offers advice and information encompassing all the RNLI’s sea safety messages in one easily accessible format for all sea users.

Until now a number of safety guidelines have been used specifically aimed at different water-sports users along with a whole series of individually targeted safety leaflets and individual booklets.

This new ‘one stop shop’ for sea safety advice delivers safety information in three different ways:

- a booklet that provides top-level safety information that is generic to everyone including a ‘Mayday’ procedures sticker

- integral to the booklet is a CD-ROM that allows the user to obtain customised safety information for their individual sports flares, sea survival, weather, charts, navigation and being rescued

- the RNLI website that allows people to find out about updated safety information from the marine sector with various downloads, links, hints and tips and a survey that enters you into a free prize draw

Peter Chennell the RNLI Sea Safety Manager explains:
‘Increased lifeboat call-outs are inevitably linked to increased use of the sea. There is an ever more urgent need for all those who go to sea for fun to be aware of the dangers it can pose. The new format brings RNLI sea safety into the e-age and means that all generations will quickly and easily find relevant safety information for their individual and family water based sporting needs.

To obtain your copy please contact the RNLI on 08451 226999 or order through the website on www.rnli.org.uk/seasafety.
