The biggest fear we should have now is fishing bans on certain parts of the coast. This is the trend that is growing way to fast and in the not too distant future we will all be in a county where parts of the coast are off limits to sea fisherman.

As for any anti fishing person that comes along to me I'd just show them my empty bag with no fish and then show them my camera which shows all my catch and releases.

If they say it causes pain I'd point them to the research that shows that plants feel pain too so what are they doing eating anything because evertyhing suffers in someway.

If they want to ban something ban lentils; they seems to be the main cause for dogoodatitis!

We have just escaped a ban on fishing here in the Bristol Channel. The local environists wanted to re-designate angling to a level 5 which would have been a hazard to wildlife. But our local Bristol Channel Federation Guru on such matters headed them off at the pass and Angling was downgraded further so as to be so low on the hazard to wildlife list we kept our fishing rights.

The Environists put forward the argument that we as anglers were a danger to wildlife especially wading birds on the sea shore and mudflats.

But they lost the argument and i think this is only the tip of the iceberg.

So watch out for changes in by laws because this is the way it is going to be done.
