IADAPRO is on a distinguished road
Irish Angling Development Alliance

Hi all,

As some of you may be aware there has been some big changes within the angling world within Ireland. These changes have produced a very new, fresh organisation called the 'Irish Angling Development Alliance' (IADA), which has a very positive attitude to help bring angling back to life on the Emerald ireland. We have sub committees spread throughout the country each dealing with there own agenda on the issues that face the angling world.

Below i have posted the 2 Official Press releases, one the AGM release and the other is an covering Water Keepers.

I.A.D.A. AGM a resounding success despite poor travelling conditions.

Following a defined period of focus groups with interested clubs, the IADA inaugural Annual General Meeting took place on the 8th January in Athlone.
Despite the extremely bad driving conditions, 20 clubs were represented with a further 6 unable to travel. This provided the Organisation with an overwhelming mandate to move forward.

The Executive Committee elected on the day was as follows:

Chairman- Richard Caplice
Vice Chairman- Cathal Hughes
Secretary- Peter Walsh
Ass. Secretary- Dave Rowkins
Treasurer- Pat Heaney
Ass. Treasurer- Mark O'Donoghue
PRO- Leigh Maitland
Youth Development- Geoff Quinn
Membership Officer- Enda Hickey

In addition to the Executive Committee elections, the initial formations of subcommittees, with one member of each club sitting on a subcommittee began.

The subcommittee cover the following targeted areas:
Fishery Development
Fishery Protection & Biosecurity
Junior Development & Education
Legislation
Individual Members
Events Matches & Festivals
Fundraising & Sponsorship
International Affairs

Full details of the representatives on these sub committees will be released over the next couple of weeks.

This new organisation of anglers for angling will now work towards its mission of creating an Alliance of Anglers working closely with a wide diversity of stakeholders and others, to proactively develop angling for the benefit of indigenous, tourist and junior anglers, and for the local and regional economies.

Press Release 21/01/2010

I.A.D.A. to fully endorse the IFI draft on applications for Private Water Keepers and is providing €13 million insurance for existing keepers and new applicants.

At a recent meeting of the I.A.D.A .executive council it was decided to fully endorse the recommendations in the IFI’s draft document on the application for Private Water Keepers.

The executive felt that given the comprehensive powers that water keepers have the draft document is a step in the right direction to ensure the countries water keepers or of an extremely high standard.

Furthermore I.A.D.A. can now offer water keepers insurance cover up to 13million. This insurance cover is available to all water keepers in I.A.D.A. affiliated clubs and any individual water keepers wishing to join. The insurance will fully indemnify IFI as per article seven of the draft.

Within our ranks we have a number of highly experienced water keepers and they will be working with our fishery protection subcommittee in the coming weeks to produce a guideline document on water keeping.
