Dennings/Chesil Beach Angling Centre Should have put this up a while ago... Unfortunately the tackle and bait shop on Portland Rd. Weymouth, has closed. Paul (IMO) had provided the best bait in Weymouth, and tried to diversify into Fly gear and guns. He called it a day, a couple of months ago. So just a quick warning. Grab your bait on your way down to Chesil. Cheers DB&DB

Real shame. I totally agree about the quality of their bait. Been going there as long as I can remember. That just leaves Weymouth angling centre, As the bait at West Bay is crap... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey...

I have spent the past month travelling to West Bay to get the only live lug worm in the area. Fantastic quality bait and just about the only bait worth using on Chesil at the moment, unless you are lucky enough to be able to get hold of live peelers or Hermit. I had Codling on live hermit on Sunday and lug yesterday. Forget the frozen lug, it just doesn't work. If you fancy trying it out for this weekend give me a call and I will organise some bait for you. Not sure I can get the fish to perform for you though, but I have been pretty lucky for the past few weeks now. | I have never ever had decent bait from the West Bay Angling centre. The last time I went there with Dognobbler & Bananna Steve, we asked for £30 worth of ragworm. We did'nt see what he was wrapping up as we were browsing the shop. We paid for the bait, drove to West Bexington, set up out gear, opened the bait to find £30 of un-fishable ragworm soup. Swore I'd never shop ther again. That was about 2-3 years ago. I'd used the shop several times in the past & the Ragworm was always poor, but that was ridiclous. Spoke to a couple of guys on the beach who said he keeps the good stuff for his regulars & palms the rubbish off on tourists..... Paul at Dennings & Andy Selby at Weymouth Angling always sold top bait. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

Re: Dennings/Chesil Beach Angling Centre There is a new shop now open almost opposite, next to the Garage. Looks very good and great selection of fresh bait. Was open Sunday morning at 8:00am when I sent passed. Definitely worth a look.

Re: Dennings/Chesil Beach Angling Centre It is run by a couple of nice guys that seem to know what they are on about. Good prices as well. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk
