Re: Dennings/Chesil Beach Angling Centre

Their bait looks just like the bait the Paul sold at Dennings, and unlike my mate Devon Born, Dorset Bred, I never did think his bait was that good (sorry Elliot). The Rag always seems small and slimy. I much prefer it when it has been stored in peat. I think they are using the same digger.
They also use vermiculite to pack it. I think it kills the worms pretty quickly. I have already mentioned that to them and hopefully they will change that.

Re: Dennings/Chesil Beach Angling Centre

I think Chesil Tackle N Bait, open at 07:30, most days.
They have talked about doing a discount card for locals.
I'm not aware of any website just yet...

Opinions differ, regarding bait...
I always had good size worms from Paul. Will agree they were a little slimy, but this never lowered the quality for me. Always lasted well.
To be fair, I am no expert on quality control regarding bait.

Had noticed some of your old stock in their shop Sean. Check out the fly lines...

Re: Dennings/Chesil Beach Angling Centre

I have just visited Mike and the other chap who's name I forget in Chesil Bait 'N' Tackle and they seem like really nice people who genuinely love fishing. They are using the same bait supplier that Dennings used and have an 80 gallon sea water tank in the back for the worms. Rag is £6 per 1/2 pound and locals get a 10% discount on everything. Not sure about opening times but their phone number is on the picture below. Mike the owner is from Poole so his local knowledge is lacking at present but that will come as he meets more locals. He did tell me that he weighed a 6lb bass the other day that was caught on Chesil.

Re: Dennings/Chesil Beach Angling Centre

Hi John.

They are not using the same digger as Paul used as he has gone of to work with Paul in civil engineering in Essex or Sussex or somewhere foreign like that.

I was in there this afternoon looking at the baits they had just had delivered.

Great lug and rag, really fresh. They are also selling fresh peeler and hermit with the promise of live sand eel in the next couple of weeks.
Great to see a tackle shop in Weymouth that will sell lug
