![]() Two Tone is dead: anglers mourn the death of Britain's record carp By Angling Times General News 16 August 2010 10:05 Britain’s biggest carp has been found dead. The huge mirror, which was known as Two Tone and lived in Kent’s Conningbrook Lake, had held the record since 2001 when it was caught by Terry Glebioska at 59lb 7oz. It raised the bar a further six times over the next seven years, peaking at 67lb 14oz when caught by Austin ‘Oz’ Holness in August 2008. Chris Logsdon, boss of Mid-Kent Fisheries which owns Conningbrook, revealed how he made the sad discovery. “A couple of anglers called to say they’d seen a big carp floating dead on the surface which they thought might be Two Tone, so my son and I went straight over to investigate. Sure enough it was the old boy – I was gutted,” Chris told AT. “He’d had a hard winter followed by a tough spring, but there wasn’t a blemish on him – no scars, ulcers or any other sign of damage. He was just old – he must have been 40 or 45. It’s very sad, the end of an era, because Two Tone was part of carp fishing history. He was stocked into the lake at 12lb in 1982 and no English fish came close to toppling his record from 2001 onwards,” he added. ![]() British record carp Two Tone dead Carp fans are in mourning as news filtered out over the weekend about British record carp Two Tone having been found dead. The famous mirror lived in Mid-Kent Fisheries’ Conningbrook venue – a tricky season ticket water where carpers are vetted before being allowed to fish. Many bank hours, nights and days were spent by the hardcore specialist anglers who dedicated their fishing to the lake. Two Tone – so named for its distinct “half and half” coloration – finally overtook Wraysbury’s Mary at Britain’s heaviest carp in 2001, when it came through at 59 lb 7 oz. The mega mirror held on for throughout the “Noughties”, with eight captors claiming official new highs. Two Tone still reigns at 67 lb 14 oz. Angler’s Mail magazine salutes Two Tone. Rest in peace, you “Best of British” superstar! | Re: R.i.p two tone OK so it's "only a fish" but it's a still a big story (in the fishing world). It will probably get featured in the main newspapers too. It was a cracking fish and lived to a good age. Credit to all the anglers who caught it and who treated it with respect. Just once again proves how wrong idiots like Robson Green are when they say "fish die after they get caught" etc. Quote:

| Re: R.i.p two tone I think it does say it all about the level of respect this fish got that there was not a blemish on her. Looked more alive than that one in West Wales . . . . . oh hang on that one was alive and well and will be caught again soon...... __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |
