Re: Go fishing show NEC 2008

Had a great time, shame more tackle companies weren't there. But overall a good day out, and the meal was lovely

Nice to meet a few more Forum members (Upnorth & Wendy woo) too.
Excuse me Sir Greenheart, I can recall the pub was YOUR idea.

Was great meeting my mate Wendy again, who was her usual self, full of beans.

Finally made the acquaintance of Paul aka Upnorth, very lovely man and also had a natter with Alan Yates about rods, rigs and he gave me some great tips.

It was great to see for the first time what the NEC exhibition was about, however, I wish they would have had more demonstrations.
A great big tackle shop, which was a little over prized but nevertheless it was fun.
And I managed to get a good deal on 3 shimano carp rods for France.

And the 'MUST' do when on a fishing exhibition, taking a few piccs with celebrity anglers.

Keith Arthur, friend of my mate Wendy

Not as grummpy as he comes across at times.

Bob Nudd

Chatty man and his wife is a lovely lady too

Frank Warick

If I could only cast a third of the distance that man can I would be a happy woman lol.

Thanks for Steve and Ian for the great company and for putting up me and also for me abandon them to spend a bit of time with Wendy, as I haven't seen her in ages.

Gavel is on a distinguished road
Re: Go fishing show NEC 2008

I managed to go on the Friday. Was diaappointed by the dearth of sea fishing attractions. Managed to talk to the staff on the Sea Angler stand. Also learned to tie my first fly - a rather untidy Peacock black. Still I enjoyed myself but spent too much money. Hope its going to be worth it. Now all I have to do is get some time off and get to the coast.

Thumbs up Re: Go fishing show NEC 2008

Nice meeting you too Paul. Felt sorry for Matt Hayes & John Wilson though. Posing for all those photos & signing all those autographs. Poor guys looked knackered... The price of celebrity eh?
