Re: almost a year on from the napoli, another ships gone down

Off Worthing Pier today we saw a large package of timber , looked about 30 foot long and still wrapped up by the looks of it ..... if it has come from that ship thats a hell of a way its travelled especially against the currents but was being moved by the wind and rough seas.

seems i was right .....

Re: almost a year on from the napoli, another ships gone down

It missed the Solent beaches completely it seems - all went south of the Isle of Wight to Sussex ?

Interestingly, there was a lot of Spanish debris washed up on the beach last night, cans, bottles, saline drips ! (sealed) tobacco pouches - wonder if that was off the ship ? Sad really .....

Re: almost a year on from the napoli, another ships gone down

My mate found one of the crews floatation type suit yesterday .... was massive and you'd never drown wearing that ..... far too big for fishing though . We dont seem to have anything else washed up bar wood

That kid'll be smiling till they hit that splinter :)
What's the law regarding pulling up with a lorry and loading the stuff up?
Is it the same as the Napoli where you'd be classed as stealing it? I always (wrongly by the sound of it) thought it was salvage. Or do you just have to register the fact you took it?

A lot of the beach where the majority of the wood is, is now fenced off .... apparently anyone caught taking wood faces a fine of £2,500 if they get caught ... but on the news now they say the wood on the beach will be available to buy once its taken from the sea

Really feel for ya guys. When I saw the mess on Branscombe it was gut wrenching. At least this shouldn't be to hard to clear up though.
