| is this all they can do is signs  THESE three warning signs are aimed at stopping East European immigrants poaching at UK lakes. Officials fear an increase in poaching before Christmas where fish like carp and pike are part of Poles’ festive meals. Many have been unaware of our “catch-and-release” policy and do not speak English. The signs have no words but feature symbols so anyone can understand them. The first puts across the no-poaching message, the second warns against cooking fish at the lakes and the third says don’t hunt.     |

| Re: is this all they can do is signs Well I might be going to say something contravertial here. Nope only kidding. Culturally "they" do eat carp and freshwater fish. Isn't that the original reason carp were bought here (cos roach taste cr@p).To be fair why are we so precious about them? You know , other than the fact that pound for pound they cost more that mermaid caught martian salmon and all?  I think there is a HUGE market for farm reared carp, bream and other fish. What we have got to do is EDUCATE THEM in our ways. If they choose to ignore his education then we need to REEDUCATE them......some of the posters here got that. People acting in a way that is disrespectful because they do not know are being ignorant and need to be informed of the correct response. Should they then continue with the same behaviour they should be more strongly educated. Me, I think at least "they" have done something to address the problem, we're all a little quick to criticise but what are we really expecting? We aren't going to see a whole police force telling our Polish friends to put them back now are we? As with many problems we can either rant and rave or we can take these people under our wings and show them the way we do things.  There are a number of people on the sea fishing front who think that taking one for the pot is OK in moderation. Granted there's a difference in that the sea will bring in fresh stocks (trawler murderers allowing) , there are also some who return ALL the fish they catch.  How many years ago was it that the majority of sharks caught were killed? Now, thankfully, most are returned where possible. What I'm trying to say is that it is easy to condemn out of hand and say these people shold be sent home, and I do understand why people may feel like that. The question to ask yourself is how likely is that to happen? Nope, not really. In the same way that we have seen influxes of people down the centuries we will stil see these in the future. | Re: is this all they can do is signs i was talking to some match angler on the middle level a few weeks ago and he said he know someone that catch pike and zander from the river nene and sell them in london £7 1lb catch a few thats a good days pay and he is an english man maybe we are guilty aswell  |
