Re: Sea Fishing Licences Fishing licenses are mandatory for all eager anglers, so go to the designated official before you throw your line into the water, or you just might find yourself being hauled off and penalised. In most cases, fishing licenses are not issued during the monsoon (when most fish species breed); in addition, most licenses are issued for only a specified stretch of water. Furthermore, there are stipulations that all fish caught must be released into the water, and anglers are restricted to a specified number of fish per day.

Re: Sea Fishing Licences Am all for a rod licence myself. Haven't yet seen an argument that stands up as to being a valid reason why not. Lot's of suspicion and scepticism but nothing really based on fact. Incidentally as an example of where is can work I think we could learn one hell of a lot from Australia in relation to stock management, includes extensive no fishing zones and entire stretches of coast being closed off not just to Commerical's but RSA's as well. All of which is backed up with a rod licence, the money from which is used towards enforcing the rules, which they do very effectively. Therefore i think a rod licence would be an excellent step in the right direction towards a structed approach in dealing with the problems around our coast. __________________ It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. ~John Steinbeck

Re: Sea Fishing Licences Have to agree with tony there , i dont usually agree or get involved with the politics on fishing , but yes a sea license is a good idea , it will sort out the anglers amongst the wannabes , as long as we can see the money being spent well , then im all for it ....... now we firstly need bin areas around all good sea marks (it makes sense ) as most of the whining comes from venues that dont have a refuse collection area !!! and also venues that have been no go areas for anglers opened up and run to a degree by the federation of the licencesee ...... lets hope the outcome is the right one !!!!and the shore angler and the stocks will benefit from the dreaded sea licence ......................i doubt it !!!!! lee. __________________ A MAN IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL HE IS MARRIED, THEN HE IS FINISHED .!!!

Re: Sea Fishing Licences Yep stock management needs addressing, however it shouldn't be a condition of whether or not a sea licence gets implemented. I don't for one minute think nor do i expect the licence money will make any difference to the quota policy for the simple fact that we trade our fishing rights within the EU to receive various subsidies and benefits, whether you're a blue or a red all the politicians have approached it the same way - as a sacrifice that's essential to keep us on the top of the european pile. I'd prefer that they traded something else, but for now it's our fishing rights. As for the licence I hope it's used to improve access to marks for the disabled, used to enforce no fishing areas around the coast to promote nursery areas, or used to prevent a lot of seasonal tinsle chuckers from ruining marks such as Chesil and the Piers in Dover, if I get two of those delivered for the price of £25.00 a year I think it'll be a good start. Just my thoughts. __________________ It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. ~John Steinbeck
