Welcome to the forum

Sorry not my area

licence to catch crayfish - no I sure you do not need one as they are pests in most areas - I know a lake around my part that traps them and sells them as they are harming the fish stock - I am of course talking about the eu crafish not our native one that is protected by law

Re: Anyone know where I can catch crayfish in norfolk?

laws for crayfish are i think that you can catch as many as you like and take them away for selling and eating but you cant take them away to other rivers/lakes to use as bait
best way to catch them is in a drop net with some smelly sardines or macky or something in a onion net bag thingy
i dont think you really need to worry about which part of the river you go for cause if a river has them they will be everywhere, try to go for a relitivly fast flowing part( but not to fast) so the scent is carry along way and also quite clear cause its fun watching them fish each other on there way to the bait

Re: Anyone know where I can catch crayfish in norfolk?

the laws for crayfish have been tightened up

YES you do need a licence, I looked into getting one but gave up as there was so much red tape, and nobody could give me a decent answer.

My best advice is if you are trying for a licence,

find yourself a nice clear bit of wall and beat your head against it several times, if this does not work then 1 or 2 things has occured

1: you are not hitting the wall hard enough
2: you are not hitting the wall long enough

Re: Anyone know where I can catch crayfish in norfolk?

You do need a license and permition from the landowner if you want to use cages or other equipment to catch the signal crayfish. But you can pick them bu hand at night along the shores, use a flashlight to spot them. If the water is clear enough that is... So no license is needed witht this method!
Anyone know where I can find Signal crayfish in the Newcastle area, I find them very delicious!
