day tickets on Ringwood and district waters

Hi,

I wondered if any one here has any idea what waters that the Ringwood and district Angling Association control are available for day tickets

I asked at their open day and all they said was "none, buy a membership for £110" , I was interested to try some of their waters before I commit to a membership, I have also tried emailing them but again Zero response, so I thought I would ask if anyone has any info on their day tickets.

Cheers

Mike

Cheers Paul, I have looked on the web site and it says some waters are day ticket, but this was not what they said when I spoke to them, so wondered if anyone had tried any of the dayticket waters

Re: day tickets on Ringwood and district waters

cant help you there but i must say i think its a bit harsh for a club not to let people day ticket fish at least a few venues.

Re: day tickets on Ringwood and district waters

Throop on the Stour is definately available on a day ticket. £9. Plus £2 for a key.

Severals on the Avon is no longer day ticket.

I don't know about their lakes though.

Ring up one of the local tackle shops. Davis Tackle, Avon Angling or Ringwood Angling. Doesn't sound as if the club are being helpful. Are you asking the right people?

Re: day tickets on Ringwood and district waters

I've fished Throop on the Stour a couple of times and got daytickets from Davis tackle near the Royalty in Christchurch; as Noel said you have to buy a key too - got mine when it was only £1

Re: day tickets on Ringwood and district waters

I am a member of RDAC, you can get day tickets for some of the rivers but the lakes are membership only.

Ring up Ringwood tackle.

What sort of fishing are you after ?

Re: day tickets on Ringwood and district waters

Hi Mike

I was just interested in seeing, and trying some of the waters, the ringwood area is a 25mile run from home for me and I have been told some of the waters are excellent fishing, Claudia and I took up fishing this year and we are trying most sorts, not targetting anything in particular. We did not want to join a club yet and find after spending £110 pounds for a years membership that we did not get on with the locations. I was a bit concerned that the open day and the total lack of response by email ( until recently ) gave me the impression that RDAC did not want to know, this seems not to be the case as this email response I got answered the question, but I had to go to the top to get an answer..

Mike,
Sorry for slight delay in replying - just returned from hols.

The only 3 stillwaters we have fishing rights on for members where you can get a day ticket as a non-member, are Whinwhistle fishery at Wellow, Nr.Romsey, Witherington Farm fishery at Downton, Nr.Salisbury and Whitemoor fishery, at Holt Nr.Wimborne.

All the other stillwater venues, which total 9 are strictly members only.

On the rivers, members have fishing rights on Throop fishery Nr.Bournemouth (Stour) and The Royalty fishery at Christchurch (Avon) but you can also buy a day ticket as a non-member.

The other Avon fisheries (7) and Stour (8) are strictly members only.

Hope this helps - any further info. please come back to me.

Regards,
Peter.

As a more general point I find it concerning that more and more clubs are become non day ticket waters,( wimborne and district is totally members only water now) on the south coast we have a large influx of tourists, and with very limited options for fishing are these clubs making fishing as a holiday pastime a no go option.

I was talking to a lad a work who lives in wimborne and he likes to fish occasionally, so cannot justify a years membership to a club, and so he commits the sin of "poaching" on club waters on the few times each year he wants to fish wimborne. Sadly this practise will become more prevalent the less honest access we can get to good waters.

Syndicates and clubs are killing the sport for the casual or touring angler. Many of us are willing to pay to access water, this can only help the clubs revenue, and without new blood coming into angling the clubs will die out, some of us cannot afford to take a £100 gamble that we will want to fish the same 15 stretchs of river for the next year, and so are left with a hobsons choice of where to learn the joy of fishing.

As an example, we both enjoyed fishing the kennet and avon canal, on day tickets at £3-50 a day, so much so we decided that a £30 annual membership was going to be worth it for us and so we took it up. Day tickets are like a test drive of a car, would you by a car you had not driven?? Would you join a club who's waters you had not fished ??

Rant over, back to real world, what are the ringwood waters like to fish??

Mike
