fishing with braid i now have my baitcasting outfit all set up and ready to go, i have loaded the multiplyer with braid , i am now wondering about the methods of playing fish on braid, with the lack of stretch in braid do i run the risk of pulling the hooks out of the fishes mouth when i bend into them,i know the rod is short and will act as a shoch absorber but i don't want to lose any more fish than necessary, obviously i will be setting the clutch reasonably light but i would value your views on this

Re: fishing with braid i,m a great lover of braid for my fishing however saying that i now have changed back to mono in my carping the main reason being is alot of lakes will not still except braid and the exspence of spooling numerous spools i could not justify the overall cost but i still think its great so for this reason i,ve changed back but i still use it in my zedding as i want to make sure when i strike i connect properly with the fish and if you know hard the inside of a zeds mouth is you can understand why i like to use it and braid allows this as there in no stretch so even at range it still does have a good hooking up ratio . now while playing fish on braid in what form of fishing you are using it be it on it can be heart stopping as you can feel every movement the fishes make (so if you are of nervous disposition braid sadly is not for you ) now when it comes to setting the clutch for braid what i do is set my reel up for mono of what ever breaking strain i would be using . but you have to have spare spools so you can firstly set up the clutch with mono then change over to thge braid and in my opinion you then have no need to re adjust your clutch again but i might be total wrong .. but this might be totally different for multi,s and as i have never used them i can only tell you how i set up on fixed spools , because normally the braid that you would be using is normally a higher breaking strain especially in luring and i know most others i know who use braid in other forms of fishing I e : carping and piking in all cases every body i know all use higher breaking strain so be interesting for what reason we decide we have to use it at a high strain . tightlines kevin ![]()

Re: fishing with braid hi guys, braid, sea angling, .............yep ive used it for beachcasting. general pro's and cons imho. as has been said b4 it has diferent properties to mono. 1, no stretch, +, much better bite detection/ more direct playing of the fish. - knots have to be perfik as over enthusiastic strikeing puts extra strian on knots and hook holds. large waves sometimes bounce the line and spring grip weight wires. 2, narrow diameter, + you can cram more line on the spool, especially good for f/spool as more length of line near lip of spool for distance casting, less resistence to tide, needs less weight to hold bottom. - fine diameter lines on multipliers give the potential for horrendous and expensive bird nests because of the braids limp nature. fine diameter lines will bed in on the spool if not careful, i dunno about fresh water but i feel its best used for spinning on a fixed spool or boat fishing , for my style of beach fishing it has a limited application but ive spoken with others here n there on the internet who prefer it to mono on the beach. gj. edit, ( ahh sorry paul ,i've just noticed this post is in the freshwater section ) __________________ 2008, sessions..26, total blanks..3 species,..20 its easier for a man to destroy the light within himself than to defeat the darkness all around him.
