| Re: Bream heres how i fish for bream on the slow rivers of the norfolk broads . method is to use a swim feeder with 6lb main line and 4lb hooklength and hook sizes i use range from 6,s are the biggest and the smallest are 10,s now the distance between the feeder and the hook depends on how much flow there is in other words if the feed comes out of the feeder and settles 3 foot from the feeder thats how long you want your hook length but its really trial an error . i normaly fish about 2 foot but again there is times when you would fish it shorter or longer depending how they are feeding but for now will just work on the length ok BAIT once you done this bait selection is next now here a few basic baits but play about on the day and fish them in combinations if the fish are not feeding on a single bait bread worms sweetcorn caster maggot reds/bronze with these above baits there is a few combinations you could try . ground bait now there is loads of different ground baits on the market the most use brands are sensa and van den hynde ,but i think these are highly expensive for the sort of fishing you will be doing and i know this mix i use catches very well on the norfolk river and they not bothered what make it is . firstly you will need some ground bread crumb white or brown. i use both but if i had to choose only one i would always go for brown as its darker and the fish will feed more confidently over brown than they will over white this is because the lighter the ground bait the more the fish will be visible to predators . this is the bread crumb i use ![]() now i also will add a couple of tins of sweet corn, casters some time maggots you could add particles but these must be boiled properly i like to add them my self personaly (keeps the fish in your swim longer in my opinion) once you have added your goodies in its time to add the liquid now a very cheap but good liquid additive to use is mollases the best stuff to use is the sweet mollases you can get it from a good pet shop this is £4.99 a gallon and is very thick but bream and carp love it . you could by the mollases from a tackle shop under a brand name but i think its a more watery version and you only get about 250ml for £3,99 now you can see how much more you get for your money and its far better as i said . now add as much as you like being natural you can,t over load the ground bait . mix till it just binds together don,t rush it really mix it all up and never put to much liquid in as you can not take it out so little at a time . ![]() once you made it to the right consistency you will need to ball it up like so now again you might want them to break up quickly to cloud up in the water layers so you will need to make them with a bit less water so it will breakon impact on the contact with the water . if you need them to get down before they break down add just a bit extra water these will make it heavier and break up slower but again this has to be judged on the place you are fishing . ![]() now once you are set up ready to fish you will need to again judge the flow and throw your ground bait balls a bit up river . now again flow rates of the river need to be judge to know how far upstream from your fishing position you will need. i normally on the broads throw them between 8 to 12 feet upstream and normally i,m fishing in about 6 to 7 fot of water but its does depend as i say on the flow rates over depth . now thats a basic breamimg set up baits and baiting i hope this help also i have put up a few sessions in the catch report on bream session you might want to read them as there is other info you might want to know . infact i,m off breaming in about an hour myself . i hope this helps and good luck breaming tightlines kevin ![]() |
