Bream Baits hello, can someone please help me with baits for bream. i am going to the river bann in county antrim, northern ireland to a stretch at portglenone. i no there is planty off big bream here and it produces lots of 100lb bags. but i dont no many good bream baits. people have told me boiles are the best and others have told me you can not beat a maggot or a worm. i am really confused. so got any baits and tips please post them here. thanks, blackwater __________________ WACCOE-MARCHING ON TOGETHER-WACCOE

Re: Bream Baits right any of the baits on the list below should catch you bream if i was you give you self every oppotunity by taking as many as you can and even mix them together as cocktails as this also works well especially if they get used to a bait heres the some good bream baits baits bread sweetcorn casters maggots worm redling ,brandlings or lobworms also don,t forget to take a good amount of ground bait to keep big shoals of bream like they have in ireland in your swim. also mix some of the above baits into the ground bait as this will help you keep them occupied . also you could mix in some mollases which i think is highly underrated by alot of anglers and bream love the sweet mollasses but i reccomend you buy it from a good pet shop as its cheap at £4.99 a gallon and its thick not like the water down stuff you buy from the tackle shops which is about £4.00 for a small bottle hope there some stuff there to help you tightlines kevin

Re: Bream Baits yes it would not be a bad idea infact a few particles such as wheat and barley are very good as a ground bait. i used to use this on the slow rivers of the broads as its heavier than the standard crumb based ground baits and takes alot longer to wash out of your swim and it all keeps the bream searching longer must be prepped right, soak over night and then boil for about 20 minute to allow to swell up and open a bit then you will need a good binding agent just use a good plain ,fine .white or brown ground bait to bind it and don,t forget the mollases to aswell as allthe other goodies you want ot put in tightlines kevin ![]()

Re: Bream Baits I've seen the river Bann fished on TV a couple of times and maggot seemed to be the order of the day then. I've had my best bream on corn but have also caught on maggot, bread punch and boillies but this has always been on still water. I'm probably wrong but my instinct is always that natural baits catch better on flowing water. Good luck, there are supposedly some big roach / bream hybrids in that river too.
