ten tips that might help your fishing

i,m going to list tens things i do personally that without thought could cost you a chance of a fish on the bank to some of you they will be second nature
but not all

1: when arriving at my venue whether its a river or a lake do not slam the door as the sound can be heard and i,ve seen fish just vanish when a car door gets slammed

2:before i start fishing any where i grab a clump of grass and wipe over my hands thoroughly this nuetralises the smells of the soap on your hands

3: when going fishing i make sure i do not wear bright colours IE: white /yellow

4: do not shout or make bank side noise walk with stealth not stomp your feet again noise will spook fish

5:while fishing after dark try not to point head lights or torches on to the water as this again will spook fish try to land fish if margin fishing by not using a headlight .

6:accurate casting is again important as casting in constantly especially with heavy leads will spook fish out of your swim

7: if like me you keep your rods made up for speedy use make sure you change the hook length or hook as if the hook is not sharp you could lose that personel best fish .

8:try to keep below the sky line as if you can see the fish they can see you

9:check you have correctly set your clutch on your reel aswith big fish is very important and a poorly set clutch could cost you fish

10: look after your tackle by regular servicing it as you do not what it letting you down when you most need it

also when fishing a new venue do you home work find out as much as you can to give you every chance to put that fish of a life time on the bank
happy hunting

Re: ten tips that might help your fishing

yes richard they to are good and i agree with all except number 9 i have to disagree with
as i believe cause of the nature of the hook peoples mentality in playing fish lead to fish actually getting damaged by applying to much force on trying to keep the fish on the hook and there fore mouth damage happens
i,ve fish alot of day ticket water where barbless is the order of the day and on these water i,ve seen alot of mouth damage and on waters where barbed hook can be used the damage seems to be minimal .
i,ve asked fishery owners why they only allow barbless and they all seem to be in the belief that they actually do less harm but where as a barbed hook going in and cause of the nature on the barb on the hook the hook does not turn and move about like a barbless which by its movement causes a hole in the fishes mouth which will take longer to heal and on many day tickets where captures and recaptures of these fish are going to be common place the damage is compounded and therefore unrepairable damage is done to fish
but this is only my opinion

i agree with all the tips posted there guys but have to say i agree with baitmaster on the barbless verus barbed .a barbed hook dosent have chance 2 come out and repeirce the mouth thus causing less damage also on this subject i always treat the fish with klinik before returning to the water

Re: ten tips that might help your fishing

yes i agree too and i always carry klinik with me now

can i also say i dont use my clutch at all i feel more in control by backwinding as and when the fish pulls

i have also been led to believe that winding your reel against the clutch/drag causes line twist?

but as i say i backwind all my fish including when im mullet fishing at sea

Re: ten tips that might help your fishing

yes it does cause line twist and like your tackle line should be looked after and here is the sppin doctor to take out most line twist by casting and retreiving it a couple of times

but i back wind but i still have the clutch set

and pikery we heard you the first time
