Sturgeon

Heard about a lake in Dorset that contains Sturgeon. Anyone know what tackle, tactics & bait that is required for these fish?

i have not caught many but when i have its been by mistake while carp fishing .



with there underslung mouth make them very good at feeding on the bottom well so any ledgering tactics should work well .bait wise i know they eat halibuts as i caught on them and boilies too.
as they scavenge if you have a baited area they will move in on it i found i only caught sturgeon during day time and with in an hour or two of baiting this was annoying and we found we had to bait a bit later so there was bait there for the carp
i have to say they fight well and they ones i have caught leap out of the water and give you a spectacular air show .
i know it not alot of info but then i have not really caught many and i don,t really target them but still fun all the same .

Cheers Kev, at least that gives me something to go on. Where do you get sturgeon up your way?

i have only caught sturgeon on certain lakes in france whille fishing for carp

Shaun (Old Smoothound) on here caught one last year on Halibut pellets too.

I wonder how we stand regarding the law. I was under the impression that there is a law in this country that states that all Sturgeon caught should be offered to the Queen.
