cold water lake and ice

well I am supposed to be going too bury hill on thurs, looks like wil be cold/icy
I know you can break ice too fish but is it worth it/ does it scare all fish away, is it serious hazard i:e line cuts against it any advise???
really wanna go and try for a big one as was hard enough to get pass

Well Ive broken ice and fished and the way to think of it is its like raking a swim in the summer . Give it 30mins and it returns to normal

Just find a deep swim mate as thats were they will be and your a braver mate than me going out tomm

Why not try a river for some chub ?

Pour petrol out over frozen lake.
Throw match and run.

Here in the states, ice fishing is a popular sport, and many anglers can;t wait for the water to freeze over. They use specialized rods, and drill holes in the ice with little shelters on them where they fish from. Many species will not be as likely to strike during the cold conditions, but some do like it. The largest problem would be to your safety. If the ice is too thin to walk on, it would not be worthwhile to go, since it will be hard to get your hook in the water, and even harder to get the fish out. If you have and can use a boat, I would say go for it. Otherwise, I might be sort of leary..
