a long time ago i used to be a junior menber of my local syndicate water and used to enjoy early mornings and evening fishing for tench with my big brother any way on one particular session in the evening i was catching big time i mean it was like every tench in the lake wanted to see me that evening anyway as a junior if you wanted to fish after a certain time you had to be accompanied by a senior member, my brother wanted to go home early and meet his girl friend (at the time i could not under stand why he wanted to see a girl over fishing ), any way there was a senior member fishing and he looked like he was staying for a session himself after the carp as he had an over rap over his brolly ,great i thought i would go have a word and see if he would vouch for me so i could stay the night as i approached his swim i could hear the rustling of bags being hidden as i got nearer yes the carp boys were secretive any way to cut a long story short he agreed to say i was with him as he knew who was, and i knew him as london john but he said to me that he hoped i was not scared of the dark cause at midnight on this given night he was going to sleep in his land rover which i thought strange as he had his camp set up here so me being me i fell for it and asked why and his reply was to me tonight the night of the green eyed badger and he was going to sleep in the car, after a while i returned to my swim and was soon fishing away and the thoughts of what he said soon drifter away, dusk was soon upon me and it got darker and darker and i started to fall asleep in my garden centre chair which was as camoufladge as a rainbow suddenly i was subconciously aware of something to my left ,as i peered into the darkness i could not see any thing but there was something there a couple of minutes past and suddenly the bush very close to me started to rustle and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, like a moth which is drawned to the light i was drawned to look closer into the dark instead of running away like linford christie at which point the bush rustle more violently and a dull growl could now be heard coming from the bush and two green eyes came over the bush from nowhere well that was that panic set in chair went one way and stumbling over my bag and looking back at the now advancing green eyes i started to make out the histerical laughter as london john popped out from behind the bush brandishind a landing net handle with a bank stick screwed into the end with two isotope taped to it, he got me good and proper that night we had a coffee and a chat and when i calmed down he went back to his camp i could hear him sniggering all the way back to his swim im glad he enjoyed it soon it got about to other members on what happened that night and i was ribbed about it all the rest of the season (thanks guys ) well i was only 13 but i look back on it now i think wow those isotopes were cool lol
