Re: Fishing off the surface

have you got round to trying to get them off the top yet richard??

i've only started to try and get em off the top this summer, and it's great fun and really good method, i've caught loads of rudd on chum mixers, and you get the odd big rudd too

Re: Fishing off the surface

The summer seems to have just zipped past and I have only done one evening and that was poor only one sniff

But you are right it is the best way of taking carp

Does your heart in when you see the mouth come up and swallow the bait

Re: Fishing off the surface

With regards to splashing it is the basis behind using the method feeder and the method float. Its the splash that quickly becomes associated with the arrival of food and causes the carp to come and investigate.

But please note this is only true on heavily stocked commercial waters that see these methods all the time and where fish are having to compete for food. Dont expect it to work on the local village pond..where a more cauctious approach is far better!

We recently took a diving course and during a dive in a local lake was unable to see any fish at all. The instructor sat on the bottom, picked up two stones and tapped them together...within a minute we were surrounded by perch and roach all attracted by the noise and with no apparent fear of the two divers!

Now all I've gotta do is design a pole rig with an inbuilt tapper!
