Is the winter so bad for fishing as people say it is because half of the people have stopped fishing round my area because they say there is no point in fishing because u wont chatch anything because it is so cold i was just wondering if this is true or not because i havent seen a different in the amout i catch

All winter means is you need to target different types of fish

Fish that are great to catch are pike perch chub and roach

THe fish still need to eat you just have to change your methods and where you fish

I find naturals are a great bait in winter, worms and maggots.

Like Rich says, Chub, Grayling and Pike feed and are caught regularly in winter.

All fish are still catchable, so don't give up.

so would u say fishing in the rivers and canal are better or shall i keep on goin in the lakes

All of them will fish the same its just a case of finding the fish in the winter as the shoal up more

try small high protein baits like small bits of sausage meat, maggots etc as they hold high amounts of energy as richard said look for the shoaling fish need to feed, jsut a case of being tehre with teh right bait, good luck!
