Re: Current Records Hello everybody from the sodden land of the rain god Aye,Scotland.Looking at the records I reckon only a few are possible up here.Firstly the Perch,Roach and, without a doubt, our old friend Essox,Pikey. As always i,ll be making an attempt to catch a monster this winter so i,ll keep everyone posted. If it,s anything like last year I,ll not have much to say but hope springs eternal. This year I,ll be ,hopefully, trying some of the Highland lochs up near Inverness so there will be plenty of frostbite-I know the solution to that Tatafernoo.

Re: Current Records Dan ...time to update the list with regards barbel methinks ;) Just realised that three of those records came from within 10 miles of where I live :) Dace...came from the river Wear at Durham....red hot winter dace fishing as they schoal up in the deeper swimming bath length (free fishing btw)...20 to 30 lb not unusual. Chub...came from the river tees....good chub, roach and barbel fishing year round. Stikleback...caught on a ferryhill ac water at Whitworth Hall..day tickets are available if you fancy your chances at being a record beater. But what kind of a mind looks at a stickleback and says "what a monster!" Food for thought...i did not realise the minnow record was under 1 oz (25g is an oz isn't it)...and I reckon i have caught loads over that weight! Seems to me there is a record there for the taking by someone who goes and targets them on the right water! The river Nidd at knaresborough is a venue where i never take small baits like maggots because the minnows are massive and in their thousands... Dave

Oi Oi, A mate of a mate was the captor of the record Tench listed above. I processed & printed the first photo's to be seen of the fish, as at the time I owned a photographic shop not too far from the water. My own PB is only 8lb 9oz taken on a pole in the 80's from Osterley Park in Middlesex. Since then I've managed 6's & 7's, but all taken on lures!

what lakes or ponds do you usually fish on?

Oi Oi, I no longer fish for tench, but until I moved a year ago I was fishing Moor Lane on the Bath Road Piscatorial Society ticket & also Sheep Walk on the Feltham Piscatorial Society ticket. Both of these waters contain a good head of tench, some of which are MASSIVE. Moor Lane is in Staines & Sheep Walk is in Shepperton.
