Re: just starting

welcome to the fishing forum

Starter kits are ok but sometimes it pays to go to the tackle shop as you can get some great advice

Also when looking for kit do not for get the local car boot sales as they can be a cheap way of getting some tackle

Looking forward to your catch reports , questions and help

Welcome to the forum

The Matt Hayes starter kits are supposed to be good for under 50 quid I believe.

If looking for tips etc.. look in the Fishing Tips and Rigs, as there's some great posts from members about most aspects from plumbing the depth to bait

Welcome to the forum from across the pond (keep that in mind w/my advise too)
(Here)In the heat try a longer line between the bobber & the bait. Or try a drop-shot from the bottom. Tie the hook a foot or 3 from the end w/ a palomar knot and crimp a split shot on the tag end (put 1 overhand knot below the weight if you loose them too easy) and keep the rod tip up. Try a slow retrieve, a little quicker, pause, let the rod tip drop to drop the bait, keep switch'n till they start bite'n. And most of all...Have fun w/ your kid!!
Good luck!
