quick session

well as work got rearranged managed to get out this morning for a few hours (oops ended up being a few more=8 )to the kia ora lakes again
useless trying to get to beach in daytime at moment

float fished one rod, still seriously trying for crucian (although couldnt fish top pond where most are due to repairing banks) seemed to create a roach and gudgeon area going mad on sweetcorn, even had perch on sweetcorn(sorry rob)
also several bream and tench
ledger rod had 6 carp including 4 mirror and 2 my commons(my first) , best was a 4lb mirror
all mirrors were on luncheon meat, commons on sweetcorn
was a busy and fun morning,
now to make up for it, so taking missus to pub with kids as well

Re: quick session

To start off, I'll admit that I have no clue what sweet corn is. I only assume it is a corn product, like what people eat. If it is, I am surprised that you were able to catch anything with it. I recently tried corn for the first time, and the fish seem to know the difference between corn on a hook, and corn on top of the water. They were biting too, as I caught 10 of them with nightcrawlers.

Well done indeed!

Re: quick session

hi akuyep good old jolly green giant sweetcorn

great bait for tench and carp
either hair rigged or straight on hook

guess about 2nd or 3rd most popular bait after maggot or worm(night crawlers)

Yup, it's canned corn here. Guess the fish I was going after were smart. I had thrown some on the surface to see if it was the bait aftert ehy all but gauked at it and sure enough they took it. I used Del Monte brand- bcause that was on sale (29 cents).
