hemp

went to a car bootsale yesterday
guy was selling off loads of tackle and bait
his tackle prices were high(and for once I thought, do i really need another reel as well)
but i did pick up 2 BIG bags of trout pellets about 2kilo each and got a bag of hemp thrown in as well for £5

question is i have never used hemp, do you just mix into ground bait, free offer, which fish does it attract and i seem to remember a thread where someone said you boil it
so any advice please
cheers
dave

Re: hemp

Think it works well as a hook bait for barbel, not sure if it has to be boiled up first though. I can think of other uses for hemp too but they could lead to a few years rest at Her Majesty's pleasure!

Re: hemp

Yeha you need to soak tehm preferably for 12-16hours then boil for 20-30min til the grains are split, and the white bit is showing, keep the water for groundbait mixes

Re: hemp

things like roach, rudd, tench and I've heard bream like em as well, if I'm fishing for big perch i'll feed a loada hemp and fish a small dead over the top simply coz the hemp attracts bait fish
