Re: Eels!?!?!?!?!?!?

deads at night tend to be good, or a BIG bunch of lobs on a size 2. id suggest a braid hookilink with the lightest bobbins you can get away with (that is if using that method) but a main thing is resistance, minimise that and you're in with a good chance. Erm, havent fished for them majorly but have picked up a few tips off people who have been for many years , always useful!erm.... if i remember anything else will post it

Re: Eels!?!?!?!?!?!?

Good info from Aks.

Lobs, deadbaits(quite small) and light resistance. (An in-line lead, or free running rig, the lead you'll be using should have a big eye.

Better fished for at night

excellent info,a lot of big eels come up accidentally whilst piking,i have had them up to 4lb 5oz on pike baits, unfortunately i havn't got anywhere near that when i fished for the little darlings,
one thing that needs to be emphasised is that you should use a wire trace if pike are in the water,
its interesting that the most successful eel angler in my area that i know of almost exclusively uses herring,i don't know how he uses it,in a strip perhaps,

Englishman.in.Sweden will become famous soon enough
Re: Eels!?!?!?!?!?!?

i have not fished eel for very long but it is very popular here in sweden,
the theory is that dead bait will get you the big ones (small chunks of roach are the mainstay here) i normaly fish four rods 3 with worm and one with dead bait, on the 50 plus times i have been i have never caught one on dead bait but have caught almost every time with worm, the largest i have had is 4lb 10oz it was the third eel i caught, having said that two of my mates here have had big strikes and runs on their dead bait but have always managed to lose the eel.
every time i have seen a strike on dead bait the eels seem to have been big.
hope this helps
