Advice needed!

hi i am moving to scotland on saturday and have a loch to fish which is very very rarely fished. it contains brwn trout, rainbows, sea trout, Big pike, big eels and some one mentioned there is half a doz artic char. the loch is about 7-8miles long and quite wide. i have the fly fishing and bait fishing covered but am wanting to try lure fishing for pike. can anyone give advice for wat setup(rods reels line breaking strain, lures spinners plugs coulers etc...)should i opt for the pike have been caught up to 30lbs but people say there are some bigger ones there.
any advice greatful.

Welcome to the forum Scott

I don't do much lure fishing, but when I do, I use a light spinning rod, 12lb line on a fixed spool reel (although you may prefer a baitcaster reel).

Also some people prefer too use braid for spinning instead of mono.

Lures that seem too work everywhere these days are Bulldawgs

Welcome to the fishing forum

Dans post above , about the line is the best way to start till you get there and fish it for a bit

The great bit about fixed spools is you can play off the handle

Think 15 lb mono or 20 lb braid and just spend sometime with your plugs/spinners and walk around the lock till you can build up a good picture of the water . Then you can start targeting the bigger pike with dead baits ect
