Re: bite alarms

You're right about those people mate. Apparently if you're a certain distance away from your rods (while they're in the water) the EA bailiffs can take your gear away, and 3 or 4 pegs away is TOO FAR!

If I was too do that, or go to the toilet, I'll bring my rods in.

Re: bite alarms

i dont use bite alarms just quivertips(dont ledger enough to justify the cost)but they can be annoying but as said before we use them because of progress thats the reason why dont use cat gut anymore and we travel to the lake in a car and not on a horse.

If you want annoying sounds that should be banned its mobile phones that arnt on silent and then the dicks who feel the need to shout to the other person on the phone when modern microphones can pick up the quietest of voices.*Rant mode off*

Cool Re: bite alarms

I am with you on this Dave.

I hate the noise they make....gets me going.... There is no need to have the volume turned up full if you are sat next to it or even in the dark. You shouldn't leave your rod unattended anyway, so again no need to have it turned up full volume.

I know bite alarms are part of today's fishing, but.....do you really need to use one? I have never used one, but have caught loads of Carp well into double figures.

The bite indicator I use for "BIG" fish is a slidy, and it never fails is silent and deadly.

But that's my opinion anyway.

You can keep using your bite alarms, by all means, but please think of others around you who just want a bit of peace and quiet, especially those in their dotage as high frequency alarm signals can play havoc with our pacemakers

Re: bite alarms

I also use a bite alarm but i only have it set so i can hear it. I use it so i don't have to worry about my carp rod while i sit and fish my match rod with a float. I do agree that people should turn theirs down so as not to disturb the rest of us but not that they should be banned entirely.
