I have not had anything bite on grasshoppers, but some pan fish will bite on crickets here in the U.S. they are good for catching crappie and other small fish. To catch them just take a large carboard box, flatten it and lay it on the ground then hold it down with rocks. After a week or so pick up the cardboard and catch the crickets before they get away

mealworms can be pretty good baits but they entail teh use of fine wire hooks unless a fair few are going to be used at teh same time, but they pull the fish better tahn maggots coz they wriggle more and have those legs etc,
