| Maggot colour ? When using maggots, what colour do you always seem to use most on the hook, or as loosefeed. For me, it normally depends on the cloud cover, if it's dark on the water surface, I'll use white maggots, if it's a bright day, red maggots. I do prefer to use reds over all, as they always seem to have that bit more attraction to carp and tench, could just be me. Always liked the blue ones for getting perch though.. Do some of you think it doesn't even matter what colour you're using? Look forward to hearing some ideas __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º> |

| Re: Maggot colour? I used Magots one time. I told the guy at the bait shop that I was going trout fishing, and he said I should try them. They were cheap- about a buck for a cup of them. They were not the same color as the ones that live in garbage cans however. They were a light brownish color. I still have some (my fishing trip was cut a bunch of casts short due to equipment problems ). I think I am going to post a picture of them. PS: The came in a cup with wood dust on the bottom. They seem to make a wier little sound crawling around in it. |

| Re: Maggot colour? I find if I'm using a bigger hook then red and white combo can be killer but nine times out of ten I will use red. my local tackle shop was having all sorts of colours in at one point from luminous reds and oranges to blues. Why hasnt anyone made a green maggot, surely this would look like natural caterpillers etc etc |

| Re: Maggot colour? If Im fishing a new water will fish with mixed and keep switching the colours to find what works As a rule of thumb I find red the best or red and white maggots when doubling up Bronze used to be the colour years ago ![]() __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

Additionally, I won't blame my other lures yet either because there was lots of other people fishing at the same locations with various lures not catching anything. One time, I did see a person catch a very short fish. One other person claimed to catch a fish the other time, but the said that too was too small to keep. At another place that I go to, I ddin't see anybody catch anything at all. I have seen stuff come out in past seasons, though I know that it is an off shoot of the first place that I fish at, so they ay be dependant on eachother. ![]() |

| Re: Maggot colour? i nearly always use reds,i think that they produce a better quality of fish most of the time, the only times i don't use them is when i am pestered by little perch, them critters love 'em. |

| Re: Maggot colour ? Have to say it, red is the best catcher for me. I find Roach thrive on the red ones .. In general I find (the same as pinguprogress) most of my bites are a mix and white and reds. Had a few nice un's on triple whites in dark // cloudy pools. |
