Perch Chanced upon some good sized perch and wondering if anybody has any tips on livebait tactics. Is it a good idea to hair rig the livebait as I am not keen on using treble hooks

Re: Perch Use a largish single hook through the top lip like Headless said. Or try a small lure like a Mepps or a small rubber shad type lure. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)

Re: Perch Minnows & Small Roach work well on the Upper Kennet for large Perch, as Headless mentioned, size 6 - 8 hooks, but (I might get slammed for this) I tend not to use a trace, this is because I have used them before for Perch but they seem to shy away from the bait when using one. Maybe my trace's were not fine enough, but having said that, I have only lost two or so hooks in 6 or 7 years to Pike picking up the bait instead.

Re: Perch you can also try worms and luncheon meat , when trying for big perch i use garden worms on a size 8 hook with a piece of sweetcorn put on hook last, to stop worms wriggling off __________________ 2011 best, carp 21lb, sturgeon 13.5 lb, bream 8lb, eel 4lb
