close season fishing ?

ok so the close season is 14/3 to 16/6. is this still valid on all rivers or are some still fishable ? and what about lakes - is this close season down to the owners discretion ?

The statutory coarse fish close season applies between 15 March and 15 June (inclusive).

See this < Environment Agency site > for complete info on the Closed Season for Coarse Fishing in England and Wales and where it applies.

There is no close season on most canals and most stillwaters. However there are some exceptions where the close season still applies (see link above)

Usually on stillwaters It is up to the club and fishery owner whether they want to retain a closed season on any of their stillwaters or not. So check first.

Re: close season fishing ?

Try telling some of the "campers" round here that there is a closed season on rivers.... E.A. Where are you?
