Scales ? What scales do we use ? Personally, I use two sets of Avons, a 32lb and an 8lb plus several Salter tubular brass spring balances for trout. Ripple. ps. never caught anything over 32lb but if I did, I guess I'd manage !

Re: Scales ? I still use a set of Avon scales which are still accurate after 20 years plus. I prefer dial scales as I like to see the needle going up rather than just having a few instant digits displayed; it gives me confidence that the scales are working ok when I see a needle moving round. Last year I bought myself a set of Fox digitals (the smaller model) but having read posts from a few people on other forums who said that if the battery is at all low they can start to read inaccurately I gave them to my son. However he hasn't had any problems at all with them and they have worked perfectly. I also have a set of small Reuben Heaton dial scales similar in size to my Avon scales but I don't use them much. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) Last edited by BoldBear; 01-06-2012 at 10:06 AM.

Re: Scales ? I have two sets, a set of weighmasters that go upto 30lb and a set of wannabe Nash scales that have built in light, to be honest they are great and very accurate. i calibrate them once a year and they have been fine each time. __________________ Born to fish made to work
