Roll models important in all sports!

Its nice to see someone that is a roll model to bring out the new people especially younger ones to any sport! I like our new roll model Tim Tevow so much I sent him a half dozen of my fishing bobbers for christmas! He lives in florida where I would love to fish anytime! who is a good fishing role model?

Fishing has plenty... Al Lindner, Jimmy Houston, Shaw Grigsby, Larry Dahlberg, Patrick Sébile, Kevin Van Dam... They're great anglers, I've never heard of them getting in trouble with the law, they are active in charity work, and Lindner, Grigsby, and Houston (I've heard rumors about KVD as well) are evangelical Christians in the vein of Tim Tebow.

I was at the louisville kentucky sportsman how about 5 years ago demoing my bobber and had Babe Winkleman watch my demo. He autographed one of my bobbers for me. He seemsed like a real nice guy!

Another one of my favorite sports role models is the Brasilian soccer (football) player Kaká. He went to the same high school my wife did, and is a member of the same church as my mother-in-law. When he won the MVP award in his league a few years ago, he donated the trophy to the church in order to attract more visitors there. He donates a lot of time and money to social and faith-based charities in Brasil and Europe, and is an all-around great guy.

Did the half dozen fishing bobbers I sent Tim Tebow for luck help defeat the Steelers? Who knows but when I gave 50 bobbers in August to Jerome Bettis for luck to pass out to the steelers the last year he player the bobbers seem to bring them luck! After the last nights game the 4 guys including Terry Bradshaw that were talking about the game made praying jestures as they seem to cut down Tebow praying. I found this very disrespectful and think the three that did that should be fired!

Don't know who any of those guys are but you are right about role models, especially for the youngsters coming up into the sport. UK angling has many role models, and everyone has there own particular favourite amongst the TV, Match and Magazine anglers. Out of that bunch mine would be Matt Hayes, who has made some great programmes over the years. Bob Nudd for his match fishing skills and more recently, Martin Bowler, who apart from his articles in Angling Times, is a role model for the sport for his work promoting all aspects of angling and environmental issues with the Angling Trust. My own personal role models would be my Dad who over the years taught me everything he knows about fishing and my Grandad, who, even though I never got to go out on the bank with him, was a big matchman on the Trent scene back in the 60's and 70's, it was his old rod and reel that I caught my first fish on. And also, my old scout leader, Keith, who was the first to take me fly fishing and taught me how to tie flies and gave me my first fly rod and reel.

more important than titles are the attributes that make the person, such as these :

honesty
generosity
modesty
morals
ethics
forgiveness
respect

any person who has all of these would be saint, but even if you have some and adhere to them you could earn a little kudos from your companions

Although my dad did not fish he started me into the next best thing which I love Gadening!The word worms bring gardenng and fishing together as friends!

Tim Tebow ad his day in the sun! That was one of the worst games I have ever watched. Two bad calls for New England that were not touchdowns the first half put the game out of reach! I will not watch another pro game this year not even the over rated super bowl!. I would rather watch a western like gun smoke!
+++I am turned off by all the sports paying $200,000 to a football player for one game especially players that are convicts or bumbs in my eyes! There are very few good role modles and when there is one the jelous make fun of them! The Steelers have a great role model but he never gets to play Quarter Back very often! I will spend most of my time fishing and gardening in the future. I wish good luck to Tim Tebow in what ever he does and hope he likes the bobbers I sent him!
