| Quick Hello Morning All, Just thought I would join this website as I've heard good things, say hello to everyone and see if anyone lives in or around West Yorkshire? Alternatively, if anyone has any report of fishing in South Wales, i'll be grateful for them too as i'm off back to the mother land tomorrow for a spot of fishing with the old man! All the best. | Re: Quick Hello The Aire apparently holds all sorts. I've been told furthr out of leeds it is an excellent trout river on the fly. But I only have my coarse gear with me, I've had Chub roach and millions of minnows but the EA have restocked it over the past few years to try and re-establish to barbel population in the river. I write an article about it as few weeks ago if you check out the link below. It should be a better river than it is, some of the stretches scream fish, but they are at the moment few and far between. I have been told that back in the day it was mightly abused as rivers go so the fish are very shy and it is very patchy. I know of a few places that throw up the odd fish though and hope to give them a whirl when the new year comes around! __________________ Like fishing? - Check out my blog at http://coarsefishingpaul.blogspot.com/ |

| Re: Quick Hello Know all about polluted rivers living near the Don all my life ! Although I must say the Don "cleaned up" considerably over that time. It now hold a good head of fish even through Sheffield's city centre and out to Doncaster. Anglers out there will know more. Above Deepcar and out to Penistone, its not bad trout fishing but a bit restrictive for fly. Great to see the carp in the Canal Basin ! No fishing there though only further down the canal. Ripple. |

| Re: Quick Hello Hi Paul - i'm West yorks' (Nr wakefield) There's a pond i fish alot @ Normanton (Pylon angling club - they have a website) £3 a day (dawn till dusk) £10 for the year book. You can also night fish which covers all for £30. Holds carp to 26lb+. Loads of carp 2-16lb Tench Barbel Roach, bream, skimmers, Perch (to 3lb odd) Pike. Seen all these caught, but only caught smallish stuff so far myself up to about 1lb or so, but this year was my 1st go @ the place. Reckon theres about 36 pegs all wood staged & it never gets full. Park car @ pond so it's always in full view. Friendly members (& A***holes are not tolerated -a few handy lads around to make sure of this.) By the way welcome to the forum.
