chub on the severn? Hey all I fancy giving chub ago on the severn this week as fancy a change from zander, I've made some cheesepaste and got a few lobworms liqudizdez bread and hemp oil ready, but was just wondering what size hooks best for thelobs n cheesepatse? And what rig's best and what line to present it on? Also if I use a cork ball on the hair for the paste do I use a bb shot to keep it balanced? Thanks James __________________ Zander career so far: 3 over 10lb weighin 10lb 12oz and 10lb 08oz, 13lb 6oz

Re: chub on the severn? Hi James, dependent on snags in the swim 6lb / 4lb line, lighter line, better presentation. hook sizes 10s 12s 14s, used with a small cage feeder, and crumb based g/bait + whatever extras you have mentioned, as chas said, fish undercut banks / overhanging trees / rafts off flotsam, anywhere there is cover for them to hide under. dont bother with a cork ball, this will make the hookbait act unnaturally, hooklink approx 20" long, you could fish with either a fixed feeder or a slider, I would use a slider with a swivel in line, less resistance on the take. hope this helps __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity.

Re: chub on the severn? cheers guys will take it on board : see i was thinking.. 8lb mainline str8 thro to a 10 hook or a 6, 2 ssg shot on a sperate peice of line cmin off and cheese paste directly on the hook and elt it bounce around on the 1oz quivertip.. but would that entice a bite off a big old rubber dub? btw ots about 14ft deep the peg ive found which is snaggy as hell but no features to fish to jay __________________ Zander career so far: 3 over 10lb weighin 10lb 12oz and 10lb 08oz, 13lb 6oz

Re: chub on the severn? if your going to use 8lb mainline, make sure you use a lower b/s hooklink if its that snaggy, should you get snagged the fish wont be tethered and possibly die. __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity.

Re: chub on the severn? simple feeder tactics will work ive found chub love corn although ive caught them on everything tbh, feelined bread is a killer to,the setup you speak of sounds good plus theeres a good chance of a barbel so i wouldnt go to light,do some prebaiting and rove, being stealthy if fishing close in especially as chub are very spooky fish __________________ hates 'carp puddles' targets for 2011 10lb+worcs stour barbel, specimen tench and chub.

Re: chub on the severn? finally sorted my rig out! 6lb or 7lb line str8 thru to a size 10 hook with cheesepaste on with a cage feeder stopped up the line full of breadcrumb with abit of hemp! __________________ Zander career so far: 3 over 10lb weighin 10lb 12oz and 10lb 08oz, 13lb 6oz
