Any good Tench waters out there

Hi
After a couple of years neglecting the piscatorial arts, I have decided to give myself more bank time this year.
In my youth, I fished a small private water and enjoyed the Tench fishing there. Not huge fish (my biggest only 3.5lbs) but good sport. During the summer I would like to visit a water that holds a good head of Tench and is not overcrowded with stocked Carp.
Anyone out there know of any day ticket waters that fits the bill and would offer a good chance of a decent days 'Tenching' ? (have car, will travel)
Your recommendations and advice would be appreciated

Rugbybill

Cool Re: Any good Tench waters out there

Hi Bill, Welcom to the forum

If you are willing to travel there is a very good Tench water called Cheddar Reservoir. They grow to 7-8lbs with plenty of fish in the 4/5lb year class. They can be tricky but are well worth it.

Hope this helps.

Oi Oi,

Again if you can travel try Sheep Walk in Shepperton, Middlesex. MASSIVE fish to record breaking weights.

Re: Any good Tench waters out there

hihihi mate!

i regularly fish aldeby pits which is right near my house, bout 5 min walk! this has some of the best tench fishing i know! the lake record is around 10lb and i regularly catch them up to 6lb wiv my pb being 8lb exactly from there! deff worth the travel

aldeby pits are near 20 mins from norwich in east anglia!

if you would like exact directions to it just ask and i can give them to you - i know its a long haul for most people to come right out to the east coast tho coz we r stuck right out! lol

Re: Any good Tench waters out there

have you ever heard of suffolk water park?
because there are a few lakes there that hold some nice tench.
the big fish lake holds double figure tench, (but they are hard to catch)
the match lake holds tench up to around 7lb, (i had 6 tench in 2 days all over 3lb!)
the traditional lake holds huge tench and they come out quite often if the carp and bream don't take your tsrawberry/ tutti frutti boilie (best bait) first.

Re: Any good Tench waters out there

Try Taverham Mill Lake in Norwich, Norfolk. Its established itself as a terrific tench water over the years and is fishing very well at the moment with some good bags of tench and double figure carp being netted.
