River Thames Can anyone give me any information on the free fishing stretches of the River Thames(or bank day ticket waters). I am trying to arrange a bumble for some fellow ultralight lure anglers( mainly after perch), and would appreciate any info, good or bad, as to where to go or where not to go on the river. I have chosen the Thames, as it is fairly central to where we are all travelling from. Anyone wishing to join in is more than welcome. Regards.

Re: River Thames I've fished the Thames a couple of times and have not particularly enjoyed it. There where loads of boats coming past and dogs and kids making lots of noise. I went to a place in runnymede wouldn't recommend it. If you find a good place Im sure it would be fine. But it's not easy to catch on the Thames . Matt ![]()

Re: River Thames Runnymeade is probably the worst stretch on the thames to try to fish, boats, swimmers, kids day out picnic area. Try the weir side of the thame locks, very few if any boats, certainly no kiddies as the water is to fast. Most of the weir sides have good barbel, bream, chub, perch, roach, but you may have to hike a bit to get these areas. The lock at Windsor is terrific fishing, once you master the water, cross over the lock gates, turn left for the weir and fastish water, go right, down to the point of the island, huge shoals of big bream, plenty of feed required can float fish this end, better on swimfeeder. Dorney is another area, that fishes well. __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity.

Re: River Thames most of the thames, even if leased by a club, have day tickets, normally about £2.5 / £4.00 a day, and they usually collect on the bank, if they turn up. the upper thames further upstream from reading onward a bit more baliffing is prevalent, with some of it club only, but again enquiries should find out the answers. good luck __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity.
