Rod or reel

I'm not looking to spend too much and I already have some equipment. Was wondering if I should get a better rod or get a better reel

Not this one (at the bottom of this web page) by any chance? --> < Leeda kingfisher Coarse Fishing Outfit >

I would get a longer rod personally (11 to 13ft), one that is capable of casting a light waggler float a decent distance or a nice multi-tip or Avon/Quiver that you can use for lots of different types of fishing.

What sort of waters do you fish and what type and size of fish do you want to catch from them?

It's probably worth having a word with your local tackleshop who will give you more localised information and advice to suit you and the waters around you.

Re: Rod or reel

My rod is a kingfisher deluxe 6ft rod and I fish in large ponds. I'm also going to start using luncheon meat as bait and hopefully start getting bigger fish

Re: Rod or reel

Yep, agree a 6 foot rod is too short but great to get started with (how many of us did just that, loads I'm guessing). 12 or 13 foot rod if possible.

Re: Rod or reel

Pop in your local tackle shop ,they normally have a few cheap combos [ rod and reel ] and should be able to advise you .
