Serious Advice Required Please

Hello again guys, Really appreciate the replies to my last post.
Anyway I have another few problems .

Today I went fishing at bassenthwaite for the first time, Trout fishing. equipment was as follows:
  • Abu Garcia Carbon Devil Spinning Rod 7ft
  • 8lb line
  • 7g silver spinner
  • A wire trace - incase of accidental pike bite

However, when casting it never went further than around 7-10 meters.
I tried putting a weight on the line but it cause the spinner to constantly snagg the lake-bed.

What am I doing wrong here? How do you set a spinner to the line?
Thanks very much again, and apologies for being so dumb!

Hi Danyobl.
Make sure your spool is full to capacity otherwise you will get a lot of drag

Without seeing you in action Danny it's difficult to say for sure what you are doing wrong

The most likely cause I would imagine is your timing is off,i.e. you are releasing the line either too early or too late in the cast.

Re: Serious Advice Required Please

Hey guys, it's not a casting problem, its more a case of not enough weight.
How do i add extra weight without sinking the spinner?

Hi danyobl,
How deep are you wanting to fish?
May I suggest a larger spinner or add a couple of of swan shot to your existing spinner.

Re: Serious Advice Required Please

The guy in the fishing shop said it would be fine! Damn.... .
Right so can someone please link me to a suitable one - (pic) and i'll do my best to get one tomorrow.

Also: for bait fishing, how would the line look? - just bubble float then a hook attached a couple ft below?

Thanks All.

Just noticed the weight I bet the wire trace weighed as much!

As chris says Danny you need a heavier lure or a lighter weight outfit.
