I went fishing the other day at a commercial lake ive been to 2-3 times before, this time i went with 3 friends. All of which have been fishing for years, always but a day licence with no problems, just never fished commercially. First of all she rejected there day fishing licences saying that she wont allow them there, although after some convincing she agreed to let them fish. Then she went outside to get our maggots, seen their rods which were telescopic rods (they have other rods just used them this day because they had to all get in 1 car) " your not using them f####g holiday rods here, may aswell use a broom shank, they injure the fish" she says and went to give them a refund after paying to fish, also showing some of her rods that you are allowed to use. Then said that they can hire rods for £4 each, really didnt want too because its already cost them a fortune but they gave in and paid for them. One was a joke and line kept tangling but its a 15min walk back to the office to see about it, we didnt have long left by time they got setup, so he just changed to his reel. Were they in the wrong, or was she? I know her lakes, her rules..but rejecting a valid licence surely not acceptable? Peterr Last edited by MRG2000; 09-10-2011 at 07:18 AM.

| Re: Is this allowed? like you say " her lake her rules" but she seems like a right ar5e. ive used a telescopic rod before and didnt think it was too stiff especially compared to a 3lb carp rod. you should just dodge the lake and tell all your mates too as well. __________________ If it was easy, it would be called catching. | Re: Is this allowed? As said above , if you DONT want to fish there again just forget about it and put it down to experience, but if you still feel aggrieved and also want to fish there again....maybe write a short letter to the owner citing all in your post and say you know its her fishery therefore her rules but these rules should be clearly posted or explained in a calm curtious manner. As for telescopic rods ...as long as they are up to the job, ie: not the really thin holiday rods that would struggle with a 2 pound roach, then i dont see a problem........i can see no difference between a three or four piece rod, a 6 piece pole or a telescopic rod, as long as it has a good tc [ test curve ]. __________________ 2011 best, carp 21lb, sturgeon 13.5 lb, bream 8lb, eel 4lb |

Re: Is this allowed? Thanks for the replies. yeah we like fishing there so will just keep quiet. the rules are on website but about the rods is not. she had a leaflet in the office stating about that. also no mention of using day licences, just what she said. peter

Re: Is this allowed? Well I wouldn't want to use a fishery managed by such an obnoxious bitch! A valid one day EA rod licence is a valid as a 12 month rod licence!

Re: Is this allowed? joke we had it on a lake here there were that many rules and bait bans he ended up with no one fishing ,,,i was in Terry Eustaces old shop bham angling center run by his mate Eric now we always av a chat about rods and tackle (shut the playground laughter lol) he showed me a new telescopic carp rod and what an amazing blank when fully out it looked exactly like any other and the action ect was the same im pretty sure they were wychwood designed for specialist who likes to travel its not the rods that damage fish its not knowing what your doing using over gunned tackle and bad handling ive seen 20lb line on carp puddles and 3lb test rods ,so i can sympathies with some owners i have a mate owns a well known lake and some of the fish have had mouths torn scales took off they dont come cheap to replace,,saying that there is no excuse for rudeness dont go back av a look at this http://www.climaxtackle.com/abu/spec..._carp_rods.htm
