Harry-The-Haddock is on a distinguished road
New angler needing help on buying a new rod!

Hi, I currently have an ''Abu Garcia Enticer Pro Match Coarse Fishing Rod 10ft'' primarily used for float fishing. It's pretty light weight so I don't think it would take anything more than 7-8lbs tops. I wanted to start catching bigger fish (Carp) therefore I've been looking into a cheap (being 14) but strong, float fishing carp rod. It's called the ''CK InDestructX 12ft Carp rod'' and was featured in the Dragon Carp Direct ads in Improve Your Coarse Fishing magazine. It is described:
Two piece, 12ft long carp rod which could stop a Rhino in its tracks! This new rod has a 2.75lb test curve which is slightly higher than your average carp rod and mirrors the ever increasing average size of our day ticket carp.

This makes the rod suitable for all UK waters where big fish are the target, and whatever the style of carp fishing you need to perform – PVA bags/sticks, helicopter, chod rigs, float fishing – this full carbon rod has the power to handle them all.

And while there’s loads of casting power, there’s also plenty of ‘give’ too with a unique non-lockup blank bending from tip to butt to protect lighter ends rigs and prevent hookpulls in that crucial time around the landing net.

Would this be any good, it's 30 quid and should be 150 pounds. Also what cheap reel would be ok with it?

Many thanks, H-T-H!

for the money you cant go wrong mate. i havent personally seen these rods in the flesh so i cannot comment about weight etc. as for reels, a baitrunner type is essential in carp fishing imo. i'd save some money, and nose around ebay for quality 2nd hand. a shimano aero baitrunner is my personal choice, and i've just picked up a spare for £31!
