Landing net spreader block I bought a 42 inch landing net, plus handle recently. It was actually the handle I was after, as it was a good sturdy, lightweight handle, which extends a good length too, and was just what I was after. The net seems fine, only problem is once I put the arms of the net into the spreader block, its virtually impossible to remove them - had to use pliers and brute force - so much so that the plastic spreader block is now cracked. I will get another spreader block. Problem is I dont want to leave a 42inch net set up all the time - are there any hints or tips, or spreader blocks that make it easier to dismantle the net?

Re: Landing net spreader block Best way I have found and even then it's still a bit awkward is to hold the net with the tip of one of the arms resting on the ground and the handle rising up over your shoulder. Wrap your arm (the same one as the shoulder then handle is resting on) around the handle so that the underside of your forearm is resting along the handle. If you remove the handle first you'll find it almost impossible to remove the arms from the spreader block. The press down, hard, onto the tip of the arm bending it inwards. With your free hand then grab hold of the arm that is bending where it enters the spreader block and pull it out. __________________ I've now added a fishing blog to my website Here

Re: Landing net spreader block If you can spare £30 then there is the < Greys Foldable Spreader Block >. A tad expensive for most though. Heres another < Folding Spreader Block > from 'MCF Carp Fishing' that is £19.50. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)
